U17 State Cup Final - Bosco 2 Castle Hill 1
Sunday was a great day for the Bosco 18A’s who played some terrific football to take home the U17 State Cup. It was also an exciting journey to make it to the final, having to come from behind in every game, including twice in the semi- finals. This included one game playing the majority with 10 men after an early send off for a last player foul. The day itself was fantastically well organised by FNSW, and it was such a pleasure playing on a really high quality field which let both teams play a good passing game. To add to the adventure, the club supplied a bus for the players and supporters which we were very thankful for, in particular for our President Michael behind the wheel. We started the game really well, dominating the opening half hour, with Bayles slotting a double, and the remainder of our forward line creating a number of good chances, but unable to finish. Going into half time up 2 nil, we were confident but weary that if we let one goal in, it was game on. And right on cue Castle Hill fired up, and started to get on top, resulting in that goal and an exciting finish. But to all the boys credit, we hung on to take the game, and the Cup back home to Bosco. Bad luck to Castle Hill who put up a terrific effort. It was so good to see so much support there for us, with the committee, family and friends filling the sideline. The celebrations started on the return bus trip, and continued well into the night back at Smithy’s Brasserie.
So well done Josh, Aaron, Mitch, Michael, Adam, Ben, Ryan D, Joe, Henry, Dylan, Brock, Blake, Craig, Aoeli, Eoghen, Ryan Z, on a great achievement.
